If you have an animal in need:

While many of our animals come from rescue/shelters, we do consider animals needing a home from private citizens. When you surrender an animal to Apifera Farm, you relinquish your ownership of the animal. From then on, the animal’s care and vet needs are handled by Apifera Farm non profit and they are sole decision makers to the animal’s needs [the rescues we work with have their own contracts, fyi]. While we allow one follow up visit within a time that works for us, former owners must understand we do not have the time or energy to have continued private visits. We ask and assume they respect this boundary. Contact Katherine if you have an animal in need -she can’t accept them all but is willing to assess each need.

We adopt elder/special needs animals and help those who have lost their owners or homes. Horses, mini’s, donkeys, goats, pigs, llamas, elder cats, fowl and rabbits call Apifera Farm their forever home. We take on animals from elders who have had to leave their homes behind for a retirement facility, or those facing illness. Our elder cats usually come from the shelter when an elder person has to give up their beloved pet.We also work with several horse rescues in New England and take on elders when we have room. We are not a ‘rescue’ in that we do not rehome our animals-once they are here they stay for life. Some of the animals come from neglect, but many were loved and have lost their owners.
